Why film, why here

Calgary light is bright, high and low-angled.

We sit over 1,000 m above sea level in one of Canada's sunniest cities, and spend months with snow bouncing light back through the glass. Film is the quiet fix that works on the windows you already have.

i.

Stop the fade

Every Tekton film blocks over 99% of UV, the main cause of faded hardwood, rugs, art and upholstery.

ii.

Cooler west rooms

South- and west-facing rooms and bonus rooms overheat every summer. Solar films reject up to 87% of the sun's energy right at the glass.

iii.

Less glare

Low winter sun and snow glare wash out TVs and screens. Films cut glare by 25% to 91% while keeping the mountains in view.

iv.

Privacy & safety

Daytime privacy for street-facing windows, frosted glass for bathrooms and entries, and security film that holds broken glass together.

Where it works

Three rooms, three films.

Each room asks something different of its glass. These renderings use the actual light and reflectance figures of each film.

The collection

Tekton solar & privacy films

Each series comes in several shades. The number in the name is roughly the share of daylight it lets through: Keramos 55 is lighter than Keramos 35. Tap a sample to see it in the window above.

What should your windows do?

Choose everything that matters. We rank the range using Tekton's published data, then confirm it in your home with samples on your glass.

The trade-off map

Light in, heat out.

Films toward the top-right let in more daylight while still rejecting plenty of heat. Darker films sit to the left. Select a point to load it in the window.

Safety, security & decorative

Stronger glass. Private glass.

Fortis security films bond to the glass so a break stays in one sheet instead of falling into shards, and they slow down a forced entry. Decorative films give privacy day and night.

Important for newer homes

Triple-pane windows? We recommend exterior film.

Many newer Calgary homes have triple-pane or Low-E glass. Heat-control film on the inside of these units can trap heat between the panes and add thermal stress to the glass and seals. For triple-pane windows we recommend the Exterior Series (Silver 15 / 40, Neutral 20, Clarion 60) or Fortis 7 Exterior, which stop the sun's energy before it enters the glass. We check your glass type and window warranty at the consultation.
